This paper proposes the Top-View Transformation Model for image coordinate\r\ntransformation, which involves transforming a perspective projection image into its\r\ncorresponding birds eye vision. A fitting parameters searching algorithm estimates the\r\nparameters that are used to transform the coordinates from the source image. Using this\r\napproach, it is not necessary to provide any interior and exterior orientation parameters of\r\nthe camera. The designed car parking assistant system can be installed at the rear end of\r\nthe car, providing the driver with a clearer image of the area behind the car. The processing\r\ntime can be reduced by storing and using the transformation matrix estimated from the first\r\nimage frame for a sequence of video images. The transformation matrix can be stored as\r\nthe Matrix Mapping Table, and loaded into the embedded platform to perform the\r\ntransformation. Experimental results show that the proposed approaches can provide a\r\nclearer and more accurate birds eye view to the vehicle driver....
Road traffic accidents can be reduced by providing early warning to drivers through wireless ad hoc networks. When a vehicle\r\ndetects an event that may lead to an imminent accident, the vehicle disseminates emergency messages to alert other vehicles that\r\nmay be endangered by the accident. In many existing broadcast-based dissemination schemes, emergency messages may be sent to\r\na large number of vehicles in the area and can be propagated to only one direction. This paper presents a more efficient contextaware\r\nmulticast protocol that disseminates messages only to endangered vehicles that may be affected by the emergency event. The\r\nendangered vehicles can be identified by calculating the interaction among vehicles based on their motion properties. To ensure\r\nfast delivery, the dissemination follows a routing path obtained by computing a minimum delay tree. The multicast protocol uses\r\na generalized approach that can support any arbitrary road topology. The performance of the multicast protocol is compared\r\nwith existing broadcast protocols by simulating chain collision accidents on a typical highway. Simulation results show that the\r\nmulticast protocol outperforms the other protocols in terms of reliability, efficiency, and latency....
On the basis of the shifting process of automated mechanical transmissions\r\n(AMTs) for traditional hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), and by combining the features of\r\nelectric machines with fast response speed, the dynamic model of the hybrid electric AMT\r\nvehicle powertrain is built up, the dynamic characteristics of each phase of shifting process\r\nare analyzed, and a control strategy in which torque and speed of the engine and electric\r\nmachine are coordinatively controlled to achieve AMT shifting control for a plug-in hybrid\r\nelectric vehicle (PHEV) without clutch is proposed. In the shifting process, the engine and\r\nelectric machine are well controlled, and the shift jerk and power interruption and\r\nrestoration time are reduced. Simulation and real car test results show that the proposed\r\ncontrol strategy can more efficiently improve the shift quality for PHEVs equipped\r\nwith AMTs....
